About the AMPLIPH Laboratory

The AMPLIPH laboratory serves as both a design house for industry partners and a platform for technical exploration, education, and applied research in mixed-signal IC design and architectures.  It brings together academic staff, students, and technical collaborators around topics that are both fundamental and industry-relevant.

Team AMPLIPH specializes in mixed-signal IC design using emerging beyond-CMOS (nano-) devices combined with “classic”  CMOS circuits for Automotive Sensory Circuits and Systems, Data Conversion,  Beyond-CMOS-based circuits, Unconventional Computing Paradigms, Power Management Devices and Circuits, and Architectures and Circuits for AI and ML. Our team provides design services to both industrial and academic partners, ranging from block-level IC design, such as digitally-assisted analog and mixed-signal blocks, to chip-level and system-level implementations. We also provide introductory courses, resembling EDU4CHIP, to educate students at both the graduate and undergraduate level to ensure they are prepared for a career in the European chip design industry. AMPLIPH has a dynamic team of senior teaching staff/senior researchers, PhD students, and MSc./BSc. students. The laboratory members have participated in national and international research and development projects, as well as leading the tapeout chips with analog, digital, and mixed signal content during their academic and industry tenure. The team co-authored over 50 articles in specialized journals and international conferences through participation in major European and national R&D projects. The lab has access to local computing power for IC design, as well as standard facilities such as conference rooms and workspaces.

AMPLIPH operates within the Department of Electronic Devices, Circuits and Architectures at Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology, National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest. It supports several academic programs and coordinates with faculty efforts to modernize analog and mixed-signal IC electronics education.

The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art industry design platforms mixed-signal IC design, including:

  • Cadence IC Design Platform

  • Synopsys IC Design Platform

  • Siemens/Mentor IC Design Platform

This infrastructure allows students and researchers to design, verify, and evaluate integrated systems.

Supercharge your final year project by working with the mentors at AMPLIPH. You’ll gain:

  • Expert Mentorship: Direct guidance from leading faculty and experienced PhD students.
  • A Powerful Network: Collaborate with top research centers within Politehnica Bucharest.
  • Creative Freedom: We champion students who think outside the box and drive their own research forward.

Bring us your passion and ambition, and we’ll help you build a thesis that stands out.
